oldskool - September 25, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)
very nice mate
looks very shiny, and some nice touches, porsche handles look cool on it!
everythin is spot on, sits lovely
each to their own but id put the std airbox back on and get rid of the boost return , cos i am a chav at heart and love to hear that tischhhhh sound
also runs cooler the charger and no chance of anything gettin back into that G lader time bomb
shame youre so far away, would love to see this in the flesh
keep us updated with any mods, if u decide to mod it further, doesnt need it tho
chunkymunkey003 - September 25, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
 answered my own question here.
sex on wheels very very nice indeed, any chance youve got a pic of your head unit?
Volksdevil - September 26, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
I only really like bbs in one flavour and thats it right there  Very smart mk2 you have there mate :thumb:
Keep us updated on it :thumb:
Neil.
bula_82 - September 27, 2008 04:22 PM (GMT)
OMG.
Cant really fault it tbh.
personally, i have a huge dislike with BBS's and not using the boot for shopping and stuff but it all works really well on yours. nice one :thumb:
EditiononeG60 - September 27, 2008 07:19 PM (GMT)
cheers guys, she is looking a little tired at the minute, been neglected due to project car :err:
The G60 will be under going a full on restroration after the driver project has been completed early next year.
I have already started to collect a few bits for her so i have all the parts ready to fit, rather than waiting like i have the driver.
The plan is to strip the car to a bare shell and have the body restored professionally to standard, the engine will be sent away to be fiddled, the interior will be cleaned and hopefully retrimmed in the standard edition one cloth, but this is proving hard to find. The boot will be returned to standard and the ICE hidden.
work to be done
Engine:
1.9 re-bore
CNC big valve cylinder head
shrick cam
flowed manifolds
65mm pulley
live mapped
basically rebuilt to 1.9 spec pushing out 250 - 270 bhp
every seal, bearing and nut replaced
body:
Entire shell acid dipped to removed all paint, underseal etc
all damage and rust repaired
repainted in standard swartz metalic black
chassis:
all subframes, ARB's, driveshafts etc powder coated
new S/S brake lines
the car will be mint
aim to spend less than 10k

cheers all
oldskool - September 27, 2008 07:44 PM (GMT)
bloomin heck!
a few questions
1, where ya getting ya cnc head off , Darren from gwerks?
2, where you getting it live mapped?
3, you getting the charger rebuilt as well seeing as youre goin for a 65mm pulley
will look immense once done Chris
looking forward to the pics, try to get plenty of pics at each stage, i love rebuild threads
EditiononeG60 - September 27, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
yeah got a quote off darren and the team he can do it all including the live remap, which i hear is the best thing you can do for a G
charger will be rebuilt, although the jury is still out on the 65mm pulley
It scares the crap out of me thinking about pulling the edition one to bits :(

You would say that, your a ladieeeee!
Eek sorryyy! Haha
Very nice car you have there mate, cant fault it!
chunkymunkey003 - September 28, 2008 09:45 AM (GMT)
lol at danny, watch out for :sheryl:
chris, just WOW that will be awesome once finished. whats this live remap thingy, rollin road and map?
EditiononeG60 - September 28, 2008 10:18 AM (GMT)
live mapping is when you drive the car out on the road while its all plugged in and they set it up under real world driving conditions, rather than the rolling road method which can differ massively from the road driving
cheers guys
chunkymunkey003 - September 28, 2008 10:24 AM (GMT)
ahhh intresting, have you had a quote off G-Werks this sounds good?
bula_82 - September 28, 2008 12:17 PM (GMT)
lol @ you guys, im female, but thats a little sterotypical
live mapping is meant to be good, i was only talking abot it yesterday, expesive though?
oldskool - September 28, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
live mapping is the only way you will get the best out of the G60, the generic chips are good but cant take into account different characteristics of the particular engine setup,
i am gonna do some live mapping at some point, probably when i get a proper clutch and stronger box
EditiononeG60 - February 4, 2009 10:27 PM (GMT)
really started to get my ass in gear to sort the E1 out.
the plans have altered a little
Body wise it wont change, fully restored etc etc etc
Engine will now be a 1.9 16vG60
started the process already, picking up a KR on sunday and got a BBM crank pulley arriving friday.
more power = better brakes
bought these a little while ago

they are brackets for wilwood 4 pots
will kepp ya'll updated as i collect and build this beast.
chunkymunkey003 - February 4, 2009 11:06 PM (GMT)
this will be an awesome car when done, cant wait for it.

EditiononeG60 - February 27, 2009 11:55 PM (GMT)
well the driver project is nearing its completion and i have started to collect bits and bats for this almighty golf
new rear brake pressure regulator

BBM crank pulley

alternator relocation brackets

agjustable cam pulley (made from a standard one)

Scirocco 16v intake manifold

Gonna spend a couple of months collecting bits and sending parts off to be machined, might strip the G60 too
cheers
chunkymunkey003 - February 28, 2009 12:42 PM (GMT)
ooo a manifold :D this is gonna be immense, ill be watching close coz i want one of these one day
EditiononeG60 - April 11, 2009 06:09 PM (GMT)
she coming home tomorrow :D
not driven it in ages :volksdevil:
gonna chuck a CTN box on this too
found a company that does CNC machining along with stainless steel fabricating and powder coating
In the mean time im buying a Polo GTI with the girlfriend :thumb:
chunkymunkey003 - April 11, 2009 06:48 PM (GMT)
wahoo properly under way then this? CTN box ftw, im already for mine, hydraulic clutch pedal is such an easy mod.
OEM+ will look sooooooo good on one of these, keep it top notch, im sure you will :thumb:
EditiononeG60 - April 12, 2009 10:50 AM (GMT)
you know the best thing is i dont have to sort out a hydro clutch peal box, as its already got one standard from the factory.
how much should i look to pay for a CTN box
this car will blow my mind, not sure what other will think. but everything will be done to A1 condition.
gonna drive it today so well nervous
chunkymunkey003 - April 12, 2009 06:11 PM (GMT)
o ye i forgot G60 are hydraulic, im not sure on a price but around 100-150. there are some on ebay from stevens dismanlters at 130+ postage.
if your lucky you might a car with one in for cheaper, just get it checked out inside before you put it on i say.
S.Wheels - April 16, 2009 08:26 PM (GMT)
:D yay, what was that about Polo hunting  another project?

| :D yay, what was that about Polo hunting  another project? |
the polo hunting is down to a very inconsiderate BMW driver that decided to pull out on her. 2007 Polo 1.4 SE is now officially dead
Found One
picking up a white 57 plate polo gti when her insurance pay out comes.
been painting my inlet manifold

painted with caliper paint then oven baked. Bought a fuel rail for $69 from the US.

and test fitted to the manifold

this project is gonna be slow to start with.
Stripped out the ICE install from the boot too, think i have grown out of subs and stuff, gonna have a sublte install and a standard boot area.
cheers all
chunkymunkey003 - April 24, 2009 07:20 PM (GMT)
manifold looks origianl, very very nice indeed.
1.8t polo gti, very nice car for the missus :D
mk2gti_houch7 - May 2, 2009 12:32 PM (GMT)
sweet looking car mate, wheels are awesome, Hows it all coming along now?
L
EditiononeG60 - May 4, 2009 08:01 AM (GMT)
not really started doing anything as yet, just collecting parts and money, stripped the rear of it out though.
its a start, cheers guys
EditiononeG60 - June 17, 2009 08:55 PM (GMT)
well with the driver project having come to an end i thought it be a good idea to start on the G60.
The idea is to have a 16VG60 Edition One by the end of march next year.
I am really worried i will get things wrong so i have labeled every single electrical connection, and bagged and tagged every single nut, bolt and washer. All the nuts and bolts will be replaced with stainless steel ones or zinc plated were i cant get replacments.
engine has been pulled (my mate thought it would look good with a audi employee in the pic)

most of the interior is out along with the dash and the front suspension is in bits.
Currently colllecting all the bits that need cleaning, blasting and powdercoating to get the rolling front chassis put together so i can turn the car around and do the back end, when all thats done it will go off to be repaired and paint.
will keep you all updated
chunkymunkey003 - June 17, 2009 09:01 PM (GMT)
oooo this is going to be a build to watch very closely :thumb:
Brushdaft - June 18, 2009 01:48 PM (GMT)
Another great thread that has somehow slipped by me until now.
Car looks fantastic, and the rebuild is going to be mega, i'll be keeping a close eye on this from now on.
EditiononeG60 - August 1, 2009 02:04 PM (GMT)
hey all
sorry for the delay with updates and general conversation.
I have been proper busy with the G, once the engine was out all suspension components, subframe, crossmember and front engine mount bracket was removed and off to the blasters.
The front and rear seats, doorcards and all trim removed including the dash, carpets and insulation removed.
All the wiring from the engine bay and front part of the passenger footwells including fuse/relay box were also removed.
Front wings also removed and all the underseal painstakinly ground off from inside wheel arch, slight surface rust around battery tray treated and etch primed, also wheel arch etch primed and a new coating of underseal.
Engine partially stripped down, just bottom end intact.
Inside the car i fully clean down the front bulkhead and front footwells and applied aftermarket sound deadening, layed 36 sqft and only covered the passenger footwell and bulkhead area, going to need lots more me think.
Then i meet a lovely man from a VW trade parts centre, i then was releived of about £500 on all new nuts bolts and other goodies to help complete the resto of this car. Also bought ARP head studs for peace of mind
will get some proper pics up asap
Brushdaft - August 2, 2009 01:34 PM (GMT)
Looking forward to seeing some pics, sounds like a proper job!
chunkymunkey003 - August 2, 2009 06:10 PM (GMT)
yeah come on chris, been waiting to long for this.
no doubt this will be a serious machine once finished :thumb:
EditiononeG60 - August 5, 2009 07:46 PM (GMT)
well here are the pics
sand blasted and zinc primered parts

cleaned, etched primed and undersealed arches

sound deadened front footwells and dash area

bush set from GSF after i cut the old ones out the wishbones

and this is what £500 worth of genuine VW parts look like, pathetic really

Quick list of new parts
Gearbox end plate
power steering fluid res
all suspension bolts
most engine bolts and nuts
driveshaft bolts
rain tray
brake clips
side skirt brackets
coolant flanges
all new sensors
gaskets
ecu hose
cross member rubbers

ARP head studs i there too
Still got a ton to get, so happy about changing everything, should be like a new car
thanks for looking
chunkymunkey003 - August 5, 2009 08:10 PM (GMT)
can i get a job doing what you do?
this is epic pal, no other word for it. looking forward to how this goes, have fun and excellent work.
exactly what ill do with my golf when i have a nice garage and the money to do it with
:thumb:
EditiononeG60 - August 5, 2009 08:33 PM (GMT)
O i dont have the oney for this at all
I steal off children to fund my habit
Cheers dude, cant wait to ship the body off to the bodyshop to get sorted.
EditiononeG60 - August 23, 2009 08:48 PM (GMT)
BTW that stealing off children thing was a joke, i would ever do that
Good news though, the car is booked into the body shop for thursday the 1st of october 2009
I have parts going to the powdercoaters next tuesday so i can rebuild the front end.
The engine bay is fully stripped of wax and most seam sealer, and has a fresh coat of acid8 etch primer.
Picked up more bits from VW too, word of warning, if anyone is thinking of changing the gearbox end crank seal you will be shocked. over £85 from the stealers. so i bought one
Completely stripped the starter motor down and prepped the metal work for paint, renewed the brushes, painted the metal work, left to dry, re assembled. and it looks amazing. pics soon.
Need help too
any idea where i can get a mk2 bonded windscreen from
cheers y'all
chunkymunkey003 - August 23, 2009 09:07 PM (GMT)
you cant chris
i honestly dont know to be honest, did you break the old one taking it out?
good luck anyway :thumb:
