Title: 1.8t GTi

chrisr - August 27, 2009 06:31 PM (GMT)
After owning my Bora TDi for a few months I got bored of the diesel & decided I wanted a GTI, So I sold it & went & after a few days of hard looking I bought a 51 plate 5 door silver GTi.

chrisr - August 27, 2009 08:44 PM (GMT)
Well I've had the 2.0 GTi, The 1.8 non turbo 20 valve GTi so thought it would be rude not to get the 1.8 Turbo GTi

madmonkey - August 27, 2009 09:23 PM (GMT)
So...

Bora Vents
De walnutting the interior.
Recaros
Remap
aero wipers

Most of the stuff you did to t'bora?

chrisr - August 28, 2009 06:10 AM (GMT)
Nope, Its having the walnut left in because its the dark one so it looks ok, If I find any bora vents in the breakers ill just end up selling them,

It will however have Aero front & rear wipers, Black grill, Anni rear & side skirts, New Alloys, Slightly lower, Then eventually a set of recaro's

Brushdaft - August 28, 2009 03:08 PM (GMT)

chrisr - September 14, 2009 09:00 PM (GMT)
Really am thinking about having it done, But just a couple of little issues to look into first.

At the moment it seems to be miss firing & running rough in the mornings & after its been stood for some time. Also sounds quite loud when I start it from cold but after about 30 seconds it all stops & runs very quiet

Patch - September 14, 2009 09:12 PM (GMT)
Secondary air pump making the noise?

chrisr - September 14, 2009 09:20 PM (GMT)
Not got a clue, but does sound quite loud, When it comes off choke it makes a sort of whirring noise then ticks over quietly

madmonkey - September 14, 2009 09:33 PM (GMT)
like a hoover? Secondary Air pump is on for 30-60 seconds after starting from cold. :D

chrisr - September 14, 2009 09:43 PM (GMT)
Thats the noise then!

Any idea of the missfiring then?

Patch - September 14, 2009 09:52 PM (GMT)
Start with a throttle body clean.

chrisr - September 15, 2009 04:54 PM (GMT)
Figured out today that if I leave it running & dont drive it until it stops making the noise & my revs drop it then runs perfectly

Patch - September 15, 2009 09:15 PM (GMT)
Secondary air pump Chris, they warm up your engine faster,it will be leaking hence the noise. There is a guide to fixing it over on ukmkivs
