Ok here goes, i have a Gti Anniversary 2002 petrol and i have recently fitted front mk4 r32 brakes disc calipers hangers ect ect ive put brand new mintex pads in aswel..... my car sounds like an old mark 2 escort when im driving and when i break they sound like a really bad winding noise on the motor way sounds like my wheel bearings are knackered. discs are handed and are on the correct way i have removed the dust covers from behind the discs but the noise is still there and suggestions guys

This is gonna sound stupid of me, but do the calipers clear the wheels fully? my calipers caught my wheels when i first got them on certain right hand bends, it actually made its own groove eventually before i figured out what it was

It may not actually do it unless its under load too...

Thanks for the reply mate the caliper is miles away from the wheel so that is defo not the problem........ im thinkin along the lines of warped discs now??

jack up the car, put axle stand under the wheel/wheels
spin by hand
listen for noise,
i reckon if you also take the wheel off and look at it, any catching will be apparent on inspection of the inside of the wheel, we had a similar proble with Swheels's corrado when she put kerscher karmonas on, it had started to catch , so bit of erm angle grinding slightly and it was all sorted.

keep us informed dude

Im pretty sure warped discs wouldnt give you any problems until you braked, in which case i think you would feel it through the steering as opposed to hearing it...

But hey im no mechanic!

yeah you are right there, youd feel warped discs not hear. youv gotta go with mannys idea then start taking them off and re-checking everything. if the noise is 100% related to the R32 brakes then thats what you have to look at yourself

I'll take them off you if you can't solve it
