Title: Back breaking Suspension
Mikewinder1 - December 14, 2008 04:32 PM (GMT)
I'm just after some advice really.
My vr6 is fitted with Bilstein suspension and is lowered about 40mm and it is, Well, TERRIBLE!!! the back is very soft and bouncy and the front is so hard that even the smallest of pot holes feels like a land mine going off!!
anyway, I am thinking the simplest way to soften it up and keep the ride height is to fit standard shocks with the springs fitted at the moment????? or fit new springs???
only on the front I can live with the rear as it is. ( I think?)
what do you think???
any advice would be Fantastic!!
MIKE

Coilovers is the answer to everything.
But seriously, its back breaking at -40?
Try -100.
If you like softness and still want low, you need some top end coilies tbh.

Is it possible to get coilies for just the front?
if so where do I buy and which make are best?
Been looking at these
Linky ANY GOOD????

have you checked the front struts, bump stops n springs for damage?
id look there first make sure no leaking is occuring from your shockers.
dont listen to them coilover heathens! :volksdevil:

(coilover heathens!) LOL! Not a fan then Manny??
Must admit I am a bit unsure about coilovers but, HAY!, they seem to get the job done!
No haven't had chance to check for leaks yet, car needs full set of disks and pads + new front tyres and rear wheel bearings AND is due MOT next month so January is going to be an EXPENSIVE month! Will check when my dad mot's it.

haha manny we will convert you
i agree with him but if they are leaking or just knackered then your gonna have to swap. then its what to swap to and a goo coilover kit is the best way, ride where you want it and excellent road holding without loseing out on comfort. but if you get the wrong kit you can lose both. iv heard good and bad things about FK and for there price you can pick up weitecs, made by KW just havent got some of the best things of KW. then look at more expensive kits like KW, H&R and eibach. really does depend what you want to spend, but iv fitted a couple of KW kits and a few other kits, some ebay specials. the ebay ones are good but not even after a year most of them jam solid which iv never seen happen to KW, thats why i bought them. after driving a rado which was wound very low at work i couldnt not have them, yeah there not cheap but the ride is awesome, brilliant when driving hard but comfortable to cruise on even down rough roads. my two cent there :D

Yeah, They look pretty good, Spax are supposed to be very good and like I said not sure about coilovers and I don't want to break the bank by replacing the rear's as well.
